Solid Nickel Steam Locomotive Bell SOLD Rare solid Nickel Steam Locomotive Bell. I was told by the old engineer that I got it from, that it was made during the first world war. Brass was too scarce, so they made some out of Nickel. He worked for the MoPac. Was made before air ringers. Good tone, & condition. Lower dia of the bell is around 12 3/4 in. Bell is 10 in tall. Cradle is approx 24in hi, base is approx 7in. Very heavy, 150 lbs or more. Can be seen at the Ark. RR Museum Pine Bluff, AR. A very rare prize. $1,250. Or will trade for 1.5 scale 7 1/2 gauge cars.
