Here is Ken
Schroeder's original prototype for his very successful line of 2 and 3 truck
Shay engines. As the prototype, it was built extra rugged (i.e., Aircraft
bearings, etc) and runs as strong now as it did when built. I have had it in
storage inside a dry, climate controlled garage for the past several years
awaiting the completion of my mountain railroad. Unfortunately, divorce has
ended my railroad dreams and the engine and cars must go.
This engine is in
very good shape and has been 'tinkered' on and improved over the time I have
had it. It has passed all it's last pressure tests without fail and runs like
a little V-8 engine on track. (It also, for some reason I cannot explain,
runs about as fast as most rod engines I've seen.) The engine has 4 means of
water delivery: hand pump, axle pump, injector and a very interesting (though
not terribly useful) steam pump .. which is fun to watch.:) Ken still
produces numerous parts for this engine and I believe another company also
has rights to produce many parts .. as such, there is a virtually never
ending supply of material to keep this engine going for many more decades,
though I know of nothing that it currently needs. (Maybe windows in the cab?)
I can provide many more pictures if needed and a new number plate has been
ordered for it. The engine is for sale with it's stand for $17,000.00 (firm)
.. and the price includes delivery to any 'western' state, ie, any state west
of Colorado.:) Any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Also for sale:
-
1-1/2 scale (or 1"
scale 'standard' gauge) water tank .. just completed, never used and is an
operable water tank. I modeled it after Colorado narrow gauge lines, but it
could just as well be a standard gauge one as well. price: $1,100.00
(includes shipping 'west') see right
-
1-1/2 scale tender,
all metal construction and would make a great companion to any light road
engine, i.e., 2-6-0 - light 2-8-2.etc. R-T-R, ie, trucks, couplers and hand
pump. price: $2,100.00 (includes shipping 'west') see below.

-
1-1/2 scale
riding/propane boxcar .. just finished and R-T-R. Includes arch bar trucks
with vacuum brakes, couplers, vented floor and cradle for propane tank,
removable roof section, etc. Car was modeled after Rio Grande 2000 series
prototype price: $2,500.00 (includes shipping 'west')

-
1-1/2 scale
riding/show car (riding car for child/small adult) ... built on a prototype
1870's combination car. I spent the better part of a year tinkering and
detailing this car and it could easily be turned into just a show car ..
includes varnished 'scale' flooring, windows details and mail 'sorting'
boxes, scale painting, etc. The car still needs a center section of the roof
.. I have the original .. and the end steps/platform needs finishing. Comes
with trucks as shown. price: $3,000.00 (includes shipping 'west')

-
2 approx. 6'
riding/passenger cars .. 1 is modeled after an 1880's passenger car, the
other, a 1900 observation car. I was going to paint and detail the passenger
car as just a riding car, and turn the observation car into a show car. (It
comes with numerous material to do just that.) Both cars are rugged riding
cars as is and come with trucks and full roof/removable roof sections. price:
$2,000.00 each .. or .. $3,500.00 for both. (of course, includes shipping
'west')
